An affectionate young Belgian Malinois who still has so much to discover.

Samy is a male Belgian Malinois who is only 10 months old. He was found before arriving at the shelter.

Very affectionate with people he knows, Samy quickly becomes attached to his trusted humans and seeks out their presence. Being alone is still difficult for him and will need to be worked on gradually.

Despite his young age, Samy can be quite fearful when faced with unfamiliar things. New people, unfamiliar situations or even certain noises can make him anxious. He will need calm and reassuring guidance to build confidence and discover the world at his own pace.

His training also needs to be continued. Samy tends to pull on the lead, although he accepts a harness and handling well. For now, he is not particularly playful, but his behaviour may evolve considerably once he has found his bearings and feels more secure.

Around other dogs, he seems rather indifferent, but compatibility will need to be assessed at the shelter.

• Continued training with patience and kindness.
• A gradual approach to helping him cope with being alone and with his fears.

At only 10 months old, Samy is still an adolescent with so much to learn. With people who can become his points of reference without reinforcing his fears, he will gradually be able to build confidence and thrive.
