Saika is a young Belgian Malinois of around 1 year old who was found before arriving at the shelter.
Very people-oriented, she quickly forms a strong bond with the people who care for her and can even become very attached to them.
Playful and affectionate, Saika already has a good foundation in obedience and is generally quite easy to manage on walks. She does not show any resource guarding, either with her toys or her food.
However, Saika needs support in learning how to manage her emotions. She also has a natural guarding instinct and can bark a lot, particularly to keep people she does not know at a distance, as she may perceive them as intruders. Introductions should therefore be handled appropriately, giving her time to observe and build confidence.
Being alone is also difficult for her. As she is very attached to her trusted humans, Saika may bark when left alone. She will need human presence and a gradual approach to learning how to be alone.
She seems to be fairly comfortable around other dogs, but compatibility will need to be assessed at the shelter.
