Neutered male Belgian malinois – 4 years old
An intense, intelligent dog… constantly evolving
Kenji is a magnificent Belgian Malinois, 4 years old, with a bright gaze and the typical energy of a working dog. Behind his power and intensity lies an affectionate dog capable of forming a deep bond with his person.
At the shelter, Kenji has experienced phases of frustration due to the environment: limited physical outlets and little variety in stimulation.
Like many Malinois, he needs movement, mental stimulation and cooperation to feel balanced.
Today, Kenji is making progress. That is why we are relaunching his adoption.
What needs to be understood
Kenji is sensitive to frustration.
During strong emotional arousal, he may grab a piece of clothing to release tension. This behavior is not intentionally aggressive but may involve the person wearing it.
It is not an attempt to attack; it is emotional discharge. He needs something in his mouth to relieve tension.
Solid equipment is essential. He accepts a harness, muzzle and appropriate gear very well.
He may also display spinning behaviors (stereotypy) when emotionally overwhelmed.
These are signals that he needs a structured framework and consistent guidance.
How he functions
Kenji does not tolerate coercion. Authoritarian or dominance-based methods would likely increase his frustration.
With him, cooperation is key:
He is intelligent, willing and eager to learn alongside his human.
And once his needs are met?
He loves the couch and cuddle time. A true “cuddle-malinois.”
The canine behavior center Espace Canin offers the adopter four guidance sessions to help establish the appropriate framework.
Ideal home
Kenji is looking for:
✔️ An experienced working-dog handler
✔️ A structured and consistent environment
✔️ Daily physical AND mental activity
✔️ Gradual real-life exposure
✔️ A modern, collaborative training approach
✔️ A large secure garden
✔️ Patience, emotional stability and real commitment
This placement requires several meetings at the shelter, supervised by the team who knows him well. Kenji will be given time to build trust at his own pace.
Professional follow-up is strongly recommended to continue the work started here.
We are currently facing the limits of the shelter environment.
Kenji needs a stable home to continue his progress and development.
