This Tuesday in Veeweyde, Julie & Les Melting’Pets came to give our little ones a fun mantrailing session. Louise, Caramel, Lola and Zoé outdid themselves!

These fun mantrailing sessions are made possible thanks to a subsidy from the Brussels Region, much to our dogs’ delight!

This “playful” mantrailing is provided in our home in the form of training exercises to enable our dogs to make a constructive mental expenditure by implementing natural search and sniffing behaviors.

As a reminder, this is an exercise in which a person, the “victim”, hides. The dog, led by a reference person, the “handler”, must then use its nose to track the person down.

Some of our dogs are already mantrailing regulars, like the gentle Zoé, who had already enjoyed a few sessions. She has found her victim every time, as has Lola, who is more interested in cuddling once the person has been found…

Lola, who managed to find Sophie despite her difficult hiding place
Zoé, very attentive throughout the session

For Louise and Caramel, it was a first. Louise, a very affectionate rottweiler, quickly understood the exercise, and was highly motivated to find our volunteer Brigitte!

Caramel also did well in the exercise, and came out well spent.

In the end, all the victims were found, the dogs spent, cuddled, and above all, lots of rewards were handed out!

Their respective exploits show once again that these four superdogs deserve a loving family too. You can find their profiles here.
