Our Brussels shelter is open to visitors from Monday to Saturday. In the afternoon, you can visit with or without an appointment. Please note, however, that you cannot adopt an animal during a walk-in visit to the shelter.

Visiting the shelter without an appointment

From Monday to Saturday, from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm, you are welcome to visit our shelter and see the animals that are accessible to the public, without making an appointment in advance.

In the morning, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, we welcome visitors by appointment only.
Appointments can also be made from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm, particularly if you are interested in adopting.

The shelter is closed on Sundays and public holidays.

All adoption procedures require a prior appointment with our team.

Visiting the shelter without an appointment therefore does not mean that you will be able to adopt an animal straight away.

An adoption takes time. Our animal carers need to discuss your lifestyle, expectations and home environment with you, introduce you to the animal and explain their personality, answer your questions and make sure that the adoption would be suitable for both the animal and their future family.

Depending on the animal and the situation, several meetings may also be necessary before the adoption can take place.

Why do we work this way?

Every day, our teams have to combine animal care, cleaning and maintaining their living areas, adoption appointments, animal intakes and surrenders, as well as welcoming visitors to the shelter.

Appointments allow us to dedicate enough time to prospective adopters and organise meetings with our animals in the best possible conditions.

Some of our animals may not always be accessible or visible to visitors. They may be receiving medical care, in quarantine or undergoing assessment, or simply need some peace and quiet.

Have you seen an animal you would like to adopt?

If you would like to adopt one of our animals, please contact our team before coming to the shelter.

We can then give you some initial information about the animal and, where possible, arrange an appointment for you to meet them with our team.

In short: you are welcome to visit the shelter without an appointment in the afternoon, but all adoption procedures require an appointment.
