? Large gathering in Namur on July 9

Two weeks after filing a strike notice, the silence of the Minister of Animal Welfare, Adrien Dolimont (MR), is deafening.

❌ No dialogue with the representatives of the collective.
❌ No position taken.
❌ No structural measures in response to the urgent situation on the ground.

The collective “Refuges en Colère,” representing nearly 80 associations, is calling for a gathering in front of the Walloon Parliament on July 9, during the last plenary session of the year.

? On June 25, during the Parliamentary Committee meeting, political disinterest was confirmed: no announcements, no direction, no willingness to address the crisis. The associations denounce a systematic abandonment of a sector in crisis.

?️ “All we got was a Facebook post. You don’t govern public policy with vague posts and empty announcements,” lament the members of the collective.

⚠️ As a reminder: an ultimatum has been issued:
Without an appropriate response before July 15, collaborations with the authorities will be suspended. The associations will no longer take care of stray animals — a responsibility that the state delegates to them without sufficient resources, even though more than 10,000 stray animals are taken in each year in Wallonia.

? The government must act, now.
? The collective demands a political awakening in the face of a lack of change. Animal welfare is non-negotiable. Overcrowded shelters, lack of inspections, feline overpopulation, intensive farming, animal testing— the challenges are immense.

➡️ The associations are calling for urgent structural responses.

? Whether you’re a volunteer, an adopter, or simply a passionate defender of the animal cause — your voice matters!

? Join the shelters and associations on July 9 at 2:00 PM in Namur.
