Every week, parcels arrive at our shelter. Some are filled with food, blankets, toys or supplies that we use every day. Others arrive with the name of one of our residents on them.
Recently, Pady and Cléo had the lovely surprise of receiving gifts chosen especially for them: chews, cuddly toys and even a little letter tucked inside the parcel.
And these personalised gifts are far from unusual. We regularly receive packages from people who have been touched by the story of a particular dog, cat or other animal in our care. Some have met them at the shelter, while others simply discovered their story on our website or social media and wanted to send them a little something.
Useful gifts… and a lot of love
These donations make a real difference to our animals. Toys, chews, treats and other enrichment items help keep them occupied, stimulate their senses and bring some enjoyment to their days while they wait for a new home.
Blankets and cuddly toys can also bring a little extra comfort to their living space.
But there is something else behind these parcels that touches us deeply: knowing that our animals are not forgotten.
When an animal has to wait several weeks or even months before finding a family, it means a great deal to our team to know that their story has touched someone. And the little notes and letters that sometimes accompany these gifts are always read with great emotion.

So we simply wanted to say thank you.
Thank you to everyone who drops off donations at the shelter, sends us a parcel or chooses to send a special gift to one of our animals.
Thank you to everyone who thinks about their very practical needs too: food, treats, toys, blankets, supplies and enrichment items. All these donations help our animal care teams make our residents’ stay at the shelter more comfortable and enjoyable.
And finally, thank you for the letters, kind words and messages that sometimes come with your gifts.
Pady and Cléo received theirs. And, as always, we make sure your love reaches its intended recipient.
